Ode to sports....and television

For those that don’t know me, I am an avid sports fan. I will watch just about any sport. From the core four (Baseball, Football, Basketball, and Hockey) to Auto Racing, Golf and even the Great Outdoor Games. (I especially like the Lumberjack Competitions.) It is my reality show of choice. Today is a sad day. My White Sox are officially out of the playoffs. This coming after their World Series victory was quite the let down. They didn’t deserve it as they played without heart but it still hurt my heart. However, I do have the Chicago Bears to keep my spirits high. Coming off of a huge victory on Sunday against the Minnesota Vikings the Bears are 3-0 with a date against Seattle on Sunday Night Football on Channel 5. Oh, and let’s not for get about the Irish. That was one of the greatest comebacks I have EVA seen…WOW. You see, this is the beauty about sports. It’s real. It’s not the same B.S. you see on T.V. these days. Guys (and girls) are out their laying it all out on the line for my viewing pleasure. Every “episode” is different and usually brings a spectrum of emotions. From joy, to Anger, all the way to Heartache, most of which occur in the same game. But there is no joy in Mudville today as the Sox are out. But, as Cub fans know all to well, there’s always next year. A new season that brings a whole new set of expectations.

So, I ask, what does it for you? What are you watching on T.V. these days? Are you a reality show junkie, sports fanatic or do you watch the Military Channel? (I actually know somebody that does.) Are you a history buff? Do you like biker builder off’s, or do you watch the 24 hour news channels? (Speaking of Jack Bauer, “Get me the President,” said in a husky, raspy voice.) Some people may be game show nuts (I like the Price is Right.) and some may just like the average Sitcom. (2 and a Half Men is great.) Let’s talk kids because maybe, just maybe, I need to expand my own horizons and see if the grass truly is greener on the other side of the fence.

Good Night and God Bless!

I like sports, but nothing compared to you.

My fallback channel is Bravo or Food Network. I can watch repeats of Law & Order SVU all day. It's a sickness. And food network - bring it. I love it all.

New shows I like - Studio 60 is good. I'm also watching The Class. We tried Heroes last night - I'm not so sure. I'm willing to give it another viewing. Standoff - brilliant...I have a horrible crush on Ron Livingston, it's pitiful.

Old shows that I still love...House, Greys Anatomy. Kevin loves Bones. I'll watch it if I'm around, but I don't feel the need to DVR it like Kev-head.

Come to the dark side, Jimmer. But stay away from reality. Except for Idol. That's my true guilty pleasure.

YUCKO on sports. I enjoy baseball and THAT IS IT MY FRIENDS.
Hate reality television. Idol is great until there are 5 to 6 episodes left and then i just want to put a gun to my head because THEY.....DRAG.....IT.....OUT.....ENTIRELY......TOO.....LOOOOOOONG!

BIG fan of CSI Miami. DVR it like its my job. And i'm a total *ex* 90210 lover therefore i LOVE The O.C. on Fox. Speaking of which doesn't even START until November. WTF! Also big fan of Law & Order SVU (like raps) and Desperate Housewives. I know i know, Desperate Housewives.....but i get some kind of guilty pleasure watching the "beautiful, wealthy people" cheat on their spouses with the gardner, have "love children" resurface after 15 years, and dote over the sort of boyfriend who's been in a coma for 6 months. OF COURSE there's someone in a coma!

Did anyone watch that new show "HEROS" last night? Weird...kinda Lost like. Not sure what I think.
*just read rebecca watched it....

I did watch about 40 minutes of Brothers and Sisters on Sunday and liked it.

I like watching football...especially when the game is close and the guys are cute. Oh yeah, and there is beer.

I really like the Wheel at 6:30. I'm getting really good at it.

I love Survivor and have for all 13 seasons!!! It is like a reality sport show because there is competion. Also Amazing race, I do not watch but it too is almost like a sport.
Studio 60 I love!!!
I actually really liked Heros last night. But then again I am a X-Men freak and this is right up that alley.
And our house hold is a big Deal or No Deal fan. Even Vivian (who is not even 2 yet) will be like Deal!
I have admit to that I love E!
A girl can dream.

Jimmer I am sorry the Sox have disapointed us but we should be happy for the fact that we have the 2005 season!!

OOOOOOOh I totally watched the Brothers & Sisters show on Sunday night. It's nice to have a "folding laundry" show in the 9pm slot on Sunday since they moved Greys to Thursday. I really liked it, too, Jul.

I love Deal or No Deal - but we're never home to watch it and it's not something I would set my DVR for.

My absolute must not miss are Studio 60, House and Greys - the others I DVR, but I can wait until the weekend to watch.

Ok, ya got me with the sports thing. You all know I love NASCAR. I must be a good old girl at heart. I also like ER, Grey's, and Law and Order, and SVU. Realitywise it's Survivor, The Amazing Race (my favorite), and Project Runway. I don't like too many sit coms and I didn't get to see Heros last night because I was watching the IFC movie "The Girl with One Pearl Earring". Studio 60 is about the best new show. It's smart and fast paced. Tonight is Dancing with the stars. Too much yap, yap, yap and not enough dancing so I'm getting tired of it already!

How was that movie, Joy? I should add that to my Netflix...
We're getting Benchwarmers today - tomorrow will be Crum family movie night! Hooray!

I like "Dancing..." I just can't stick with it. I'll jump in at the end. From the little bit I've seen - Emmitt Smith looks pretty darn good. A heckuva lot better than Jerry Rice!

Bring in the Bus! Then I'll be addicted every show.

That's just not right. Jerome Bettis should neva appear on that show...

Joey Lawrence is pretty good though. WHOA!

I feel for ya Tigger. 24 doesn't start till after the Super Bowl...

Love Studio 60...Aaron Sorkin may snort more cocaine than Richard Pryor, but the man can write. Also don't miss House or Gilmore Girls every week. And Brothers and Sisters was good...Ken Olin directing and his wife, acting...it's like thirtysomething all over again (I'm dating myself, I know.) Great post, Jimmer!
