So in keeping with the music theme, I've comprised over several days a list of my Top 100 songs of all time. I may have missed some, so feel free to contribute. This was really tough for me, as I love so much music from so many different eras. I toiled, edited, removed and replaced several songs, but I think this is pretty good. There are some country songs I thought of putting on there - He Stopped Loving Her Today is one...Van Morrison was put on the list and removed several times, as was Cat Stevens, Emerson Lake and Palmer and Yes.

Umm, those are all great songs with the exception of a few. I do not think My Name Is belongs on any top 100 list. But that's just me. I would have Frank Sinatra's Luck Be A Lady and Fly Me To The Moon on my list as well as Ray Charles' Georgia On My Mind. There's a lot of Country Music you could have added as well. (I know it's your list.) Prop Me Up Beside The Jukebox would be on mine.
Now, with that being said, I'm not going to spend the time to come up with 100 of them...
Have I mentioned how much I like code tags?
My Name Is is there for a good reason - I think Eminem is going to stand the test of time - and it was the first "hip hop" song that made me really pay attention. I think I could have just as easily put Ice Cube's Steady Mobbin' or Snoop's Gin and Juice, but for me, Eminem's appearance on the scene is more memorable, and I love him.
I think the you pointing out my omission of Sinatra is a valid point, but I'm not sure if either of those two would be on my list. More by Bobby Daren is representational of my love for the Rat Pack, even though he's not a Rat Packer...but it's my favorite crooner song of all time.
Prop me up beside the jukebox wouldn't come close - even if I were making a list of top 100 country songs...sorry.
Can't wait to see your list.
Do you think Eminem stand out to you more because he is white?
I would have to agree with Jim that there should be some Frank.
But everyone has there own opinions. Like I would have ZZTop- LaGrange or Phish- Sample in a Jar. As for country I could make a 100 list which would include Johnny Cash!!!
Jimmer - "Luck be a Lady?" Are you a showtune/musical kind of guy?
I'm picturing you as an extra dancer in the high school musical production of Guys and Dolls. Am I way off?
No, I don't think it's a race thing - I think if Eminem were black, he's still lyrically superior to a lot of rap counterparts. The man kills me.
Of course - I could have put My Adidas on the list - but ulimately I based it on what I don't turn off when listening to the radio.
Rebecca does Eminem write his own lyrics? I thought Dr. Dre did...Maybe he just produced them...
No, I was not a back up dancer. I do have a routine for Luck though...I've done it a few times but it's usually around 1:20am...2:00am is naked time you know...
Marshall writes his own stuff, Jimmer...hence his Oscar nod for Lose Yourself. The songwriters take home the gold on that one, not the artist, I believe.
