I am so tired of having conversations about grass seed and weather I could choke someone. Seriously - I know that my husband really wanted to get the project done. The grass seed project that followed the excavation project that trashed my perfectly healthy, wonderful grassy back yard. Do you have any idea how difficult it was to look out my back door and see nothing but black dirt again? I had flashbacks to filthy kids coming in from playing outside and staining every article of clothing they owned. That dirt never comes out. Bleach it, wash it 52 times, it doesn't matter. Once that dirt gets in, it's not getting out.
This weekend he and the boys busted hump getting all of it planted...at least a couple of acres that had to be turned, leveled, seeded, raked and seeded some more. Oy. I'm tired just thinking about it.
And yesterday, a little teeny tiny morsel of a payoff - some of the grass is already coming up - the stuff they did around Easter and the week following. A light green haze over the muddy muddy exterior. I thought my hubby was going to need a moment, if you know what I mean.
I, on the other hand, am completely thrilled with the handrail, my new living room tables, and my outdoor sitting area. It's awesome. I found an outdoor rug to go with the set, so now I really do feel like I have an outdoor living room. We spent some nice time out there over the weekend sipping wine and waiting for the grass to grow. Grow, grass, GROW! The view from my awesome patio furniture will be much better when it's green instead of brown and mucky. Ew.
Next up, the front porch project. This one I could actually lose sleep over, I think. I just don't know where to start. I think I need a landscape company - anyone know of anyone that could come to my house in the boonies and make some sort of stone walkway to my front porch and stairs to match? Help?
Lovely, lovely bloggers...where is the dear Eileen? CCC is coming, m'dear ... we need to make PLANS!

I can sure relate to you and your grass project. We also have a project the removal of the wallpaper and glue from the entranceway. We only have a couple more days until the painter gets here and we still have tons of glue to remove. My fingers are killing me. I've been trying to sand off the last of the glue on the lower walls while Rich is working on a ladder to reach higher up. We stlll have to spackle sections of the walls and then sand some more. I'm ready to run away from home.
Am looking forward to seeing your patio when we come out for a visit in June.
You're coming in June??? Why does no one tell me this? I know my parents are coming there in May for Maggie's 1st communion - but I didn't know you were coming in June? Did I? Am I going senile?
Take some pictures of your little grassling and post it`how fun is that.
My big project~buying things for the lake house. OY! good think the funiture stayed. but we need EVERYTHING else... sheets, pots ,pans a grill a HUGE cooler for my ice cold beverages....
You're not quite at senile yet. I thought I mentioned it, maybe not. We haven't decided the exact days, but it will definitely be before your Sedona vacaction.
You're coming to Sedona - as in my back yard????? OK, it's an hour and a half north of Phoenix but that's almost my backyard. You will love Sedona. Gorgeous (and we have Fat Tire!)
Eileen has been off having fun for the past couple weeks but she's back now - and catching up on everything so she can leave again in a month for the CCC (where we'll all get to hang out - how fun will that be?)
Colleen
I'm here! This is my first gander at the blog in three (count them) weeks. I felt like my left arm was removed. Does NO ONE have Wi-Fi in senior developments in Florida? Apparently not.
I'm here, I'm queer (as in odd) and I'm ready to blog.
Wait! Julie had a last day? No more Ragan? Do tell.
Also, Rebecca, we did karaoke in Florida and Lily and I sang "Walk Like an Egyptian" to a bunch of drunk seniors. I lost track of Lily (age 6) for a few minutes, and when Craig and were looking for her we found her by herself SITTING AT THE BAR. Oy!
Colleen - yes! The family vacay this year is Sedona at the end of June. We have to wait for baseball season to end. ugh. Games only last 6 weeks, but it feels like a LIFETIME. We're actually flying in to Phoenix and then driving up to Sedona from there.
Eileen!!! My how I've missed you and how proud I am of you for raising your daughter the right way. At the bar indeed...and singing karaoke...BRILLIANT. CCC is coming, CCC is coming. We must, must, must make plans!!! I'm dying here...meeting my bloggers, Steve's bloggers...it's just too much.
Suzi - how FUN to be furnishing your lake house!! Pictures, pictures, pictures...I miss your face and can't wait to see you at the end of this month.
